Marc Richard is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office, practising in the areas of patents, trademarks and copyright, with a particular focus on pharmaceutical patent litigation. Marc obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Life Science from Queen’s University and his Law degree from the University of Ottawa. Marc appears regularly as an advocate before the Federal and Ontario Courts. Marc has represented clients in patent infringement trials, applications under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations, judicial review proceedings, trademark matters and domain name disputes. Marc also advises clients on regulatory and administrative law matters relating to pharmaceuticals. In addition, Marc has also acted for clients in the oil and gas, food and beverage, technology and agricultural industries. Marc has a background in biochemistry and has experience working in molecular biology laboratories. Marc is a part-time Professor at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Common Law and has lectured in patent law, Federal Court practice and intellectual property litigation. Marc acts as a volunteer duty counsel for Pro Bono Law Ontario.
