David founded Roy O’Connor LLP, a litigation boutique in Toronto, just over 20 years ago. Prior to that move, he was a partner in the litigation department of a large national firm. His practice is focused on commercial and class action litigation (both defence and plaintiff side). Benchmark Canada has consistently recognized David as a litigation star in class actions and commercial litigation, with peer praise for his “prowess” in both areas. Benchmark also recognized David as a finalist for Class Action or Plaintiff Litigator of the Year 9 times since 2015 and, in 2023, he was named the Plaintiff Litigator of the Year. He has been listed in the Lexpert/ROBSpecial Edition:Canada’s Leading Litigation Lawyers, as well as the Lexpert Guide to the Leading US/Canada Cross-Border Litigation Lawyers. Years ago, David was also recognized by Lexpert as a finalist for the "Top 40 Under 40". He is ranked in the Chambers Guide to Canada’s Leading Lawyers in Class Actions and ranked by Best Lawyers in Canada in the areas of corporate and commercial litigation. David was recognized by Canadian Lawyer magazine as one of the finalists for the Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers in Canada in both 2015 and 2016.
