Michael McIntosh is a senior partner who practises in the areas of banking, acquisition finance and project finance at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. Regularly advises on cross-border financings. Recent transactions include financings of oil sands projects, conventional oil and gas reserves, refineries, pipelines and power-generating assets. Lead counsel to the lenders for the financing of North West Redwater's Sturgeon County refinery and for the financing of Western Oil Sands’ participation in the Athabasca Oil Sands Project; lead Canadian counsel to the lenders for the financing of the Vantage Pipeline. Lead counsel to TransCanada for its bridge credit facilities for the Columbia Pipeline Group acquisition. Also, lead counsel to the lenders for each of the following acquisition financings: Husky Energy’s acquisition of US refining assets, Cheung Kong Infrastructure’s acquisition of TransAlta Power, Baytex Energy's acquisition of Aurora Oil & Gas and Wolf Midstream's acquisition of Devon Energy's interest in the Access Pipeline. In addition, lead counsel on the credit facilities of Suncor Energy, TransCanada PipeLines, Husky Energy, Baytex Energy, Athabasca Oil and Crew Energy. Admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1986 and the Ontario Bar in 1988. Appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2014.
