Alex practises in the areas of corporate and securities law, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising transactions, and corporate governance. Alex regularly leads high profile transactions and contests in his marketplace. This has included M&A transactions that were recognized as M&A Deal of the Year by the Canadian Law Awards in each of 2023 (for the Target) and 2021 (for the Buyer). He regularly advises Canadian and international clients on public and private M&A transactions, including both negotiated and unsolicited transactions. He also advises issuers and underwriters on equity and debt financings and securities law matters. Alex is a noted thought leader in the area of Corporate Governance and proxy contests and has extensive experience in proxy contests. He was one of the first Canadian lawyers inducted to the American College of Governance Counsel. His extensive experience advising on many of Canada’s highest profile proxy contests and in advising boards on corporate governance matters makes him a key member of the Corporate Governance practice. Alex works across industries and has represented notable clients from the real estate, technology, mining, energy, transportation and financial services sectors.
