Stephen Gleave has joined DLA Piper (Canada) LLP as partner in the firm’s Toronto office. A commercial litigator who focuses on employment litigation, Gleave has 30 years of experience and has completed more than 50 trials, 300 labour and commercial arbitrations and 50 labour and civil injunctions. Gleave represents clients in wrongful competition matters, such as restrictive covenants, breach of confidence, breach of fiduciary duties, Charter challenges, retirement and benefit issues, executive compensations plans and complex wrongful dismissal actions, among other matters. He also acts for employers in complex disputes stemming from shareholders agreement or the Ontario Business Corporations Act, including Rights of First Refusals, the valuation of a business, motions for advanced payments in a shareholder valuation dispute, oppression or derivate actions brought against or on behalf of a corporation.
