First Capital Realty Inc., a publicly traded real estate investment company engaged in the acquisition, ownership and development of neighbourhood and community shopping centres in Canada and the U.S., completed the acquisition of six shopping centres in the greater Montreal area from Ivanhoe Cambridge on January 31, 2002.
The total purchase price for the properties was approximately $58 million. First Capital was represented in the acquisition and the financing by Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP, with a team including Robert Abrams, Rita Lc de Santis, Sébastien Savage and Sébastien Thériault (Competition Act) and Dominic Nadeau. Ivanhoe Cambridge was represented by Denis Paquin of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP.
