Averna Acquires DAQTron

On April 16, 2009, Montréal-based Averna completed the purchase of DAQTron, located in Maryland and Georgia. Both companies are involved in test engineering, using their processes and expertise to help manufacturers get their high-tech products to market faster and achieve higher quality. Averna will be using DAQTron's Atlanta office as its main post in the USA.

The transaction, made for an undisclosed amount, was made possible through two parallel financings by the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and by Fondaction, a registered labour-sponsored venture capital corporation.

Averna was represented by Heenan Blaikie LLP, with a team led by Carl Bélanger and comprised of Stavroula Makris, Suzanne Owen, Alan Sarhan and Véronique Bastien. George M. Cheever and Michelle R. McCreery, from K&L Gates' Pittsburgh office, were Averna's counsel for the American side of the deal. Rob Hassett, of Atlanta law firm Casey Gilson P.C., acted for DAQTron.

Acting for the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec were Maxime B. Rhéaume, Nicole Chouinard and Cynthia Dufour, from Miller Thomson LLP. Fondaction was represented by Luc Paradis of Morency société d'avocats s.e.n.c.r.l. in Québec City.
