GTC Acquires Telemedia Publishing Assets

On March 20, 2000 GTC Transcontinental Group Ltd. (GTC), a Canadian leader in specialty publications, completed the acquisition of the publishing division of Telemedia Communications Inc. (Telemedia), adding eleven new titles to GTC’s publishing portfolio. With this acquisition, GTC now has a total of 51 English and French titles and a circulation of approximately 100 million copies annually, making it the second-largest publisher of magazines and periodicals in Canada, and the leading publisher of consumer magazines.

A team from Goodman Phillips & Vineberg, Montreal, assisted Yvon Bolduc, the Vice-President, Legal Affairs and Secretary, and Élise Dubé, the Director, Legal Affairs and Assistant Secretary of GTC in the negotiation and completion of the acquisition. The GPV team consisted of Sidney Horn, Geneviève Dufour and Sébastien Savage. Franziska Ruf of McCarthy Tétrault, Montreal, represented Telemedia.
