Jordan Telecommunications

McCarthy Tétrault is acting for the Government of Jordan on the privatisation of Jordan Telecommunications Company (JTC), Jordan’s monopoly fixed line telecommunications service provider. France Telecom has agreed to pay US$508 million for a 40 per cent stake in JTC. The transaction will close January 23.

The McCarthy Tétrault team is led by Jeremy A. Oliver with team members including Hank Intven, Stephen G. Rawson and Elspeth M. Williams. Richards Butler in London, England, is advising France Telecom. The Richards Butler team is led by Philip Allford. Valerie Guillaume-Vernet is France Telecom’s in-house counsel on the transaction. The Jordanian legal advisor to the Government is Sharif Ali Zu’bi.
