Microsoft Acquires Opalis Software

On December 10, 2009, Microsoft Corporation acquired Opalis Software Inc., a leader in IT process automation software and maker of data centre management software, for an undisclosed amount.
The acquisition will result in an addition to Microsoft's System Center portfolio and IT Management.

Opalis Software Inc. was represented by a team from McCarthy T├ętrault LLP, led by George Takach (tech M&A), that included Ted Liu (tech M&A) and Patrick McCay (tax).

Microsoft was represented internally by Keith Dolliver (M&A) and Jill Ballo (IT), and by a team from Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, led by Frank Turner (M&A), that included Neal Ross and Heidi Wong (M&A); Michael Fekete and Christopher Sanz (IT) and Alain Fournier (tax).
