Placer Dome Completes U.S. Debenture Offering

On March 6, 2003, Placer Dome Inc. completed an offering of US$200 million 6.375 per cent debentures due 2033 by way of private placement. Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, CIBC World Markets Inc., Scotia Capital and HSBC Securities acted as joint book-running managers, and Deutsche Bank Trust Company Americas acted as trustee.

Placer Dome’s in-house legal team was led by Geoff Gold, vice-president, assistant secretary and associate general counsel. Edwards, Kenny & Bray in Vancouver was Placer Dome’s external lead counsel, with a team that included Bill Hartley, Geoff Sherrott, Deborah Clark and John Munnis. Doug Marshall and Monica Biringer of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP in Toronto also represented Placer Dome. In the U.S., Placer Dome was represented by Christopher Paci, Don Lonczak, Isamu Watson, Boon-Li Tan, Angelina Fisher and Saya Nakano of Shearman & Sterling in New York.
