Societe Generale Provides Financing For Angola Dam

On May 19, 2011, Société Générale (Canada Branch) (“SGC”) and Republic of Angola, acting through its Ministry of Finance, entered a credit agreement in respect of a US$280,883,000 credit facility for the financing of the rehabilitation and modernization of the Matala hydroelectric dam and certain related facilities by SNC-Lavalin Angola Limitada, a subsidiary of SNC-Lavalin Inc. The credit facility consists of a structured export loan, which is insured in part by Export Development Canada (“EDC”).

SNC-Lavalin Angola was contracted to supply goods, works and services in connection with the rehabilitation project pursuant to an Engineering-Procurement and Construction (EPC) Agreement with Empresa Nacional de Electricidade.

Société Générale (Canada Branch) was represented by Juliette D'Hollander, Senior Legal Counsel at SGC, and by Heenan Blaikie LLP, with a team comprising Ilan Dunsky, Marie-Josée Couture and Joel Cabelli.

Republic of Angola was represented by FBL Advogados of Luanda, with a team comprising Guiomar Lopes and Teresinha Lopes.
