Trent Drugs Refinances and Purchases Pharmaceutical Supplies

Kingston, Ontario-based Trent Drugs (Wholesale) Ltd. completed the refinancing of its activities with General Electric Capital Canada Inc. (GE) and the concurrent acquisition of St. John’s-based Pharmaceutical Supplies Limited, and its subsidiary Pharmaceutical Supplies (Maritimes) Limited, based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The value of the deal is confidential, and it closed on May 30, 2003.

For the refinancing, Trent was represented by John Moss of Soloway Wright LLP in Kingston. GE was represented by Ogilvy Renault, with a team led by Virginie Gauthier and Kevin Morley, and assisted by Jennifer Stam and Rosella Santilli in Toronto.

For the acquisition, Trent was represented by Heenan Blaikie LLP, acting as lead counsel, with a team that included Auguste Masson and Carl Bélanger; and by Stewart McKelvey Stirling Scales, acting as local counsel in Newfoundland, with a team that included Bruce Grant, Neil Jacobs and Margaret Gillies, and Maureen Ryan and John Cook (financing).
