Élise Renaud is a partner in Fasken’s Investment Products and Wealth Management Group. Élise advises actors of the investment management industry, including investment fund managers on legal issues relating to the establishment and administration of publicly offered mutual funds and private pooled funds in Canada. She also advises managers of investment funds, securities advisers and dealers on regulatory matters, compliance, registration transactions outside their normal course of business. She also has obtained novel exemptive relief from a wide variety of prospectus, registration, conflict of interest and other compliance requirements under Canadian securities laws. She has significant expertise in the regulation applicable to the offering and use of derivatives within the Province of Québec (including conclusion of ISDA agreements relating to various forms of derivatives). As an active member of the Investment Funds Institute of Canada, she is called to participate in various committees, such as the compliance and fiduciary duty committees. From July 2002 to January 2003, she was seconded to the Capital Markets Branch (which includes the investment funds) of the Autorité des marchés financiers. Called to the Québec Bar in 2001, she graduated from the McGill Law Faculty.
