James (Jamie) Knight practises exclusively in the area of management-side labour relations and employment law. His clients operate in diverse sectors, including manufacturing, entertainment, health care, municipal, and financial and other services. He has extensive experience in collective bargaining negotiations and in litigating before the courts, federal and provincial tribunals and boards, and at arbitration. Jamie is also experienced in guiding employers through the process of responding to union organizing campaigns. Jamie is a Fellow of the US College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. He has been a Member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers (CACE) since 2008, including serving as President. He has also been active in the Human Resources Professionals Association, including serving for several years on the Complaints, Investigation & Discipline Committee. Jamie is a well-published author, speaker, teacher, and trainer on labour and employment issues. In 2017, he was named Canadian HR Reporter Employment Lawyer of the Year, as selected by Canadian Lawyer Magazine. He was also named by Best Lawyers as the 2019 Lawyer of the Year for his work in Labour and Employment Law in Hamilton. Jamie was called to the Ontario Bar in 1985.
