Selena Kim is a partner in Gowling WLG's Toronto office, practising in the areas of intellectual property litigation, patent prosecution, transactional intellectual property work, and strategic intellectual property portfolio management. She has practised intellectual property litigation and patent prosecution since 2002. She has represented clients at all levels of court and has also been certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a Specialist in Intellectual Property Litigation (patent, trademark, copyright). She is currently the only woman to have achieved such a triple certification in the Law Society’s history. Her technical background is in the life sciences (having completed a graduate degree in molecular biology), but Selena has worked with many types of complex technologies, including mechanical, electrical, and chemical inventions. Selena also assists inventors and companies in preparing and advancing their patent and design applications and provides strategic advice to clients on all aspects of their intellectual property, including infringement and validity assessments and freedom to operate opinions.
