Co-Chair of the firm’s tax and estates department. Practice focuses on the income tax aspects of corporate reorganizations, mergers & acquisitions, take-overs, debt financing transactions, transactions involving partnerships and other flow-through vehicles, asset-based financings, and cross-border financing and leasing transactions. Practice also includes personal tax planning and residency matters, foreign tax planning for Canadian residents outside Canada and structuring investments for non-residents into Canada. He is the past chair of the National Taxation Section of the Canadian Bar Association and past co-Chair of the CBA-CPA Joint Committee on Taxation. He served on the Canadian Tax Foundation’s Board of Governors and is a past director and president of the Canadian Petroleum Tax Society. Has presented a number of papers on a variety of tax related topics at national, international and local tax conferences. Called to the Alberta Bar in 1988.
