Brenda Swick’s practice focuses on international trade, government contracting, and anti-corruption. In international trade matters, she has acted in numerous WTO/NAFTA dispute settlement cases and anti-dumping/subsidy investigations, and regularly advises in relation to export controls, economic sanctions, and customs. Formerly legal counsel with the Government of Canada. Appointed by the Government of Canada as an expert arbitrator under Ch. 19 of NAFTA. Acts for government contractors in bid challenge disputes before CITT, and provincial agencies and courts. Provides advice on bid preparation/contract negotiation, including security clearances/Controlled Goods Program. In her anti-corruption compliance practice, has counseled, written corporate compliance programs, and conducted anti-corruption training, audits for Fortune 500 companies. Broad expertise in regulatory compliance includes representation of clients in the defence, agri-food, dairy, food, drug, pharmaceutical, medical devices, transportation, manufacturing, technology, and consumer product sectors. Appears before courts in judicial review applications.
