BA and LLB, Queen’s University. Called to the Bar of Ontario in 1979. Certified in 1990 by the LSO as a Specialist in Civil Litigation. Member of the CBA and MTLA. Author of numerous papers in the personal injury/MVA field and has lectured for the LSO, CBA(O), TAS and other bodies. President of The Advocates’ Society (2002-2003); the founding member of The Canadian Defence Lawyers and the first recipient of their prestigious Lee Samis Award for Excellence, 2002. President of the Medico-Legal Society (2008); current Chair of The Advocates’ Society insurance committee. Retained by the Ministry of Finance of Ontario as a consultant to provide analysis and technical advice to the Ministry on its preparation and drafting of the Bill 59, Automobile Insurance legislation and its regulations. In 2000, was asked by the Government of Ontario to Chair the Advisory Board to make recommendations regarding the definition of catastrophic impairment: SABS. First recipient of Ontario Bar Award of Excellence in Insurance Law, 2006. Fellow of American College of Trial Lawyers, June 2007. First recipient of the Lee Samis Award by the Canadian Defence Lawyers – 2002 and recently of The Advocates' Society Medal – 2014.
