Douglas serves as strategic advisor and advocate on behalf of many national and multinational employers. His practice focuses on collective bargaining, labour and employment litigation. He represents clients before federal and provincial labour relations boards, in arbitration proceedings and in employment and human rights claims before the courts and tribunals. Douglas is committed to the priorities and values of all clients where he works towards practical, cost effective solutions. Douglas is an experienced negotiator and labour litigator who is mindful of the importance of achieving client objectives, while respecting relations with employees and their representatives. Douglas is experienced in assisting clients to facilitate their business plans through negotiation and litigation. In this work he appears before labour boards in the federal sector and in provinces across the country, in arbitration proceedings and in employment and human rights claims before the courts and administrative tribunals. Douglas is co-author of Canadian Labour and Employment Law for the U.S. Practitioner (Bloomberg BNA) and the co-editor of Federal Labour Law and Practice (Canada Law Book). He is also co-author of a Guide to Workers’ Compensation in Ontario (Canada Law Book).
