Dom is a partner who practises in the areas of lending and insolvency. In his lending practice Dom acts primarily for financial institutions and other lenders on secured transactions. Dom has extensive experience structuring and negotiating credit facilities, syndicated loans and acquisition financing for local, multi-provincial and international transactions. He has been involved in the financing of a wide range of businesses including real estate development, food and agriculture, automotive dealerships, vessels, hotels, farms, greenhouses, newspapers, high technology products and national retail chains. Dom’s clients include numerous foreign financial institutions and law firms who retain him to assist with the Canadian aspects of cross-border financings. Dom maintains a complementary insolvency practice. Dom has worked with the Gowling WLG practice innovation group to develop, implement and refine new models for the efficient delivery of legal services for both his lending and insolvency practices. Through the use of a sophisticated portfolio management software system and work process designs Dom leads teams that oversee large portfolios across Canada for both loan origination matters and the recovery of defaulted commercial loans.
