Shelagh Carnegie is a partner of Gowling WLG Toronto office and the leader of the national Trademarks Practice Group. Her practice focuses on trademark and copyright law in respect of national and global portfolios. On these levels she regularly advises on all aspects of trademark prosecution including clearances and investigations, trademark filing and prosecution and registration and post-registration issues. Her counsel includes not only risk assessments but innovative approaches for overcoming obstacles and developing branding strategies. Shelagh regularly enforces and defends rights in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings, demand letters and settlement negotiations and advises on and drafts trademark licensing, settlement and consent arrangements. Shelagh advises on, negotiates and drafts agreements relating to the use and exploitation of copyright protected works including music, photographs, images, books and literary works.
