Wendy Wagner is a partner in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office with a practice focus on data protection, cybersecurity and international trade. She is the leader of the Firm's Privacy & Data Protection Group. In her international trade law practice, Wendy advises on free trade agreements, investor-state disputes, anti-dumping and countervailing actions, export & import controls and military-defence controlled goods, and all aspects of customs (tariff classification, valuation, origin). She appears as counsel on trade related matters before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal and the Federal Court of Appeal. In her data protection and cyber security practice, Wendy advises clients all aspects of data privacy and information management including cyber security breaches, compliance programs, cross-border data flows, health privacy laws, and employee privacy. She also advises on Canada’s anti-spam legislation and unsolicited telecommunications rules. Wendy represents clients in defamation lawsuits and media-related matters and advises clients regarding freedom of information legislation. She's appeared as counsel on defamation, media and access to information related matters in the superior courts, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the federal courts, and the Supreme Court of Canada.
