John Doolan is a partner in Miller Thomson's Vancouver office and lead of the firm’s national Aboriginal law practice. Doolan has extensive experience in commercial real estate and Aboriginal law matters. His practice includes advising on major projects and financings, infrastructure development, structuring transactions, acquisitions and dispositions, partnerships and joint ventures, real estate development, and leasing. He represents First Nation, lending, and business clients on economic development projects. He has written on “Real Estate Transactions With First Nations in Canada,” “Development on First Nations Lands,” and “Financing On-Reserve Developments.” He works successfully with all levels of government on a wide range of matters. His recent work includes acting for Tsawwassen First Nation and Tk’emlups te Secwepemc on regulatory, real estate, and economic development projects, acting for a partnership between a national real estate developer and a First Nation in Alberta on the master planned development of 1,200 acres of reserve land southwest of Calgary and acting for CMHC as lender to the 11 tower Senakw residential development on Squamish Nation reserve land in downtown Vancouver.
