Rick Van Beselaere, QC, is a commercial lawyer, practising primarily in the areas of financial services, secured and commercial transactions, insolvency and corporate/financial restructuring. Rick has acted as counsel for borrowers and lenders on many Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act restructurings in Saskatchewan. He has assisted the Province of Saskatchewan in the drafting of climate change legislation and regulations, and has acted on green technology and carbon credit trading transactions. He has acted for lenders, owners and proponents in several of Saskatchewan’s largest P3 projects. He has appeared in all levels of courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada on matters relating to banking, the Bank Act and provincial secured transaction legislation. Rick was a lecturer on commercial transactions at Bar Admission Course, and has written many papers and made many presentations to CBA and other organizations regarding commercial matters such as secured transactions, financing, debt and security enforcement, realization and restructurings, enforcement against farm assets in Saskatchewan, insolvency and debtor/creditor matters. Rick has been engaged in the first social impact bond transactions in Saskatchewan. Rick served as a Bencher with the Law Society of Saskatchewan.
