Michelle is a senior partner in firm’s Competition Law, Trade and Foreign Investment Group and a former chair of the national competition law section of the Canadian Bar Association. Michelle’s practice has a particular emphasis on mergers & acquisitions, competitor collaborations and antitrust investigations. She provides strategic counselling advice on managing competition law risk and structuring antitrust compliance programs and internal investigation processes and protocols. She represents clients, whether as targets or third parties before the Competition Bureau in connection with civil and criminal investigations under the Competition Act. As well, Michelle has extensive experience representing targets and non-Canadian acquirers confronted with the review process under the Investment Canada Act, including the national security regime. She regularly makes submissions and engages in dialogue with the Competition Bureau, the Department of Justice, the Department of Public Prosecutions, Industry Canada and Department of Canadian Heritage.
