François Painchaud specializes in business law applied to key technology sectors. He is frequently involved in the drafting and negotiation of complex transactions related to technology transfers and joint ventures and in commercial and corporate law, including venture capital and mergers and acquisitions. He was named Lawyer of the Year 2014 (information technology) in Montréal by Best Lawyers and was also named Technology Transfer Lawyer of the Year in Canada by Corporate Intl Magazine Global Awards and is a member of the Intellectual Asset Management leading 300 IP Strategist. Called to the Québec Bar in 1986, François Painchaud has been a partner at ROBIC for more than 25 years. He is a past president of the Licensing Executives Society USA and Canada Inc. Since 2011, he has been counsel, corporate secretary and a member of the board of the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI) and, as of May 2018, he will be President of LESI. François is corporate secretary to the NEOMED Institute and the Québec Consortium for Drug Development (CQDM), both leading organizations in the Canadian life science ecosystem. He is also a Director of the Cancer Research Society and other not for profit organizations.
