McEwan Partners brings together Ken McEwan K.C., Bob Cooper K.C. and Craig Dennis K.C., three leading Chambers Canada and Lexpert-ranked litigators, to lead a corporate, commercial, and securities litigation boutique. Our lawyers include former judicial clerks and members of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Society of Barristers, and Litigation Counsel of America. Our lawyers have delivered successful results for clients in trials and appeals across Canada, including significant victories at the Supreme Court of Canada.
Our lawyers are consistently recognized by peer review agencies including Lexpert, Benchmark, Who’s Who, Canada’s Best Lawyers, and Martindale Hubbell, with recent industry highlights including 2021 and 2022 Benchmark BC Firm of the Year; 2021 Benchmark Canadian Litigation Boutique of the Year; Benchmark 2022 Canadian Trial Lawyer of the Year; Best Lawyers’ 2023 Lawyer of the Year in Class Action Litigation; Best Lawyers’ 2022 Lawyer of the Year for Production Liability Law, Vancouver; 2021 Lexpert Leading Litigation Firm; three lawyers recognized as Canada’s Top 50 Trial Lawyers; Chambers Band 1 for Litigation in British Columbia; and two lawyers in Who’s Who Commercial Litigation for 2022 and 2023.
In addition to all our lawyers acting as counsel, our senior lawyers also arbitrate and mediate disputes. Two are members of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and one an author of Commercial Arbitration in Canada and contributing author to A Practitioner’s Guide to Commercial Litigation.
Our lawyers are active in the legal community, regularly contributing to publications and to student and continuing education programs, including authoring the fourth edition of Sopinka on the Trial of an Action and serving as an adjunct professor of law teaching advanced trial advocacy at the University of British Columbia. Our lawyers are involved in legal organizations, including the Canadian Bar Association (BC Branch) and the Advocates’ Society, both as members, on committees and in leadership roles, including serving on the Board of Directors of the Advocates’ Society.
Although we now practice as a litigation boutique, many of our lawyers have experience in full service corporate commercial firms working closely with business lawyers on complex securities and corporate litigation and arbitration. We are focused on client results, equipped for both complex and straightforward matters, and have the experience and judgment to know the difference.
