Adam is a litigation partner in McCarthy Tétrault’s Toronto office. His trial and appellate practice focuses on commercial and regulatory disputes, as well as on constitutional litigation. An experienced courtroom lawyer, Adam represents clients in private arbitrations, in matters (including urgent matters) on the Commercial List in Toronto, and in litigation before courts across Canada. He has been counsel in numerous high stakes and precedent-setting cases, including in more than a dozen appeals to the Supreme Court of Canada. Adam also maintains a busy pro bono practice, representing individuals and organizations in public interest litigation, particularly in LGBTQ+ equality cases. Adam is the co-author of Emergency Law in Canada: Commentary & Legislation and the host of McCarthy Tétrault’s award-winning podcast, Law in the Time of COVID-19. His scholarship and commentary have appeared in the Supreme Court Law Review, the Yale Journal of International Law, and the Michigan State International Law Review, as well as in the Globe and Mail, National Post, Toronto Star, Ottawa Citizen, Slate, Maclean’s, and Policy Options. He was admitted to the Bars of Ontario and New York in 2015.
