Alan Cofman

Alan Cofman is an accomplished and versatile commercial litigator. He provides strategic advice to businesses and resolves disputes in arbitrations, administrative law, traditional litigation, and appeals. A substantial portion of his practice focuses on the transportation and logistics industry, including regulatory matters, cargo claims, liens and arrests. Alan acts for shippers, carriers, consignees, forwarders, brokers, warehousers, insurers, and others. He regularly addresses federally and provincially regulated activities, including the transportation of dangerous goods and issues governed by the Canada Shipping Act, 2001.  Alan has appeared in all levels of court in Ontario, British Columbia, and the Federal Courts, before other courts across Canada, and administrative tribunals and arbitration panels. He is a member of the Canadian Transportation Lawyers Association, Transport Lawyers Association (USA), Canadian Maritime Law Association, ADR Institute of Canada (and Ontario), and Toronto Commercial Arbitration Society.
