Alan Cofman

Alan Cofman is an accomplished commercial litigator who provides strategic advice to businesses and resolves disputes through litigation, arbitration, administrative law proceedings, and appeals. A significant portion of Alan’s practice is focused on the transportation and logistics sector, including regulatory matters, cargo claims, liens and arrests. He regularly acts for shippers, carriers, consignees, freight forwarders, brokers, warehousers, insurers, and related industry participants. His work frequently involves federally and provincially regulated activities, including the transportation of dangerous goods and matters governed by the Canada Shipping Act, 2001. Alan has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, British Columbia, and the Federal Courts, as well as before courts across Canada, administrative tribunals, and arbitration panels. He is a member of the Canadian Transportation Lawyers Association, the Transport Lawyers Association (USA), the Canadian Maritime Law Association, the ADR Institute of Canada (and Ontario), and the Toronto Commercial Arbitration Society.
