Brigitte L .M. Goulard

Co-head of Torys’ Consumer Protection practice and Fintech group, Brigitte has more than 30 years of experience working in the financial services industry, including the banking, insurance and financial cooperative sectors. With roles ranging from general counsel and policy management to serving as the Deputy Commissioner of the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada for nearly five years, Brigitte has deep knowledge of the legislative framework applicable to financial institutions in Canada, with a particular emphasis on consumer protection matters. Brigitte’s role as the former Deputy Commissioner of the FCAC and her extensive work in public policy and advocacy with various associations gives her significant insight and knowledge in legislative and regulatory processes, as well as in the workings of government in general, and in legislative lobbying requirements in Canada.
