Acted on leading cases dealing with judicial supervision of national class actions (Parsons), waiver of tort (Serhan), preferable procedure (Fischer), fraud on the market (Bre-X) and evidentiary standard for certification (Charlton). Extensive experience in the litigation of professional regulatory issues on behalf of regulators and professionals. Represents clients on judicial review applications and appeals in relation to tribunal decisions and administrative actions. Has represented clients at the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as the courts of appeal of Ontario, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan, in class actions and professional regulatory matters. Admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1990.
On January 10, 2019, a consortium consisting of Air Canada, Toronto-Dominion Bank (“TD”), Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (“CIBC”) and Visa Canada Corp. (“Visa”) announced the successful closing of its purchase of Aimia Canada Inc., owner and operator of the Aeroplan Loyalty Business, from Aimia Inc.
