Casey Chisick is certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a Specialist in Intellectual Property Law (Copyright). His practice includes entertainment & media, intellectual property, communications, and brand management, with particular expertise in the collective administration of copyright. Casey acts as transactional and litigation counsel to clients in music, film, TV, animation, broadcasting, higher education, theatre, publishing, fashion, visual arts, advertising, and new media, as well as other businesses with IP needs. He has appeared as counsel in five appeals to the Supreme Court of Canada and in proceedings at various levels of court, the Competition Tribunal, and the Copyright Board of Canada. Casey is recognized as a leading lawyer by Chambers Global, The Best Lawyers in Canada, Legal 500, Who’s Who Legal, Managing IP, and Expert Guides. He was named a Lexpert Rising Star in 2011. Casey was the gold medallist in law at the University of Manitoba, earned an LLM as a Fulbright Scholar at Harvard Law School, and served as law clerk to Justice Frank Iacobucci of the Supreme Court of Canada. He is vice president and president elect of the Copyright Society, serves on committees of the ABA, INTA, and IPIC, and is a founding advisory board member of IP Osgoode.
