Cathie Brayley advises on taxation issues related to mergers, acquisitions, representation and warranty insurance, corporate reorganizations, corporate domestic tax planning, succession planning, trusts, personal tax & estate planning and compliance issues. She advises on tax planning issues related to investments by Canadians in foreign jurisdictions and by non-residents of Canada in Canada. She resolves disputes at the audit and appeal levels within the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and provides advice on the CRA’s Voluntary Disclosures Program. She is a frequent speaker on taxation issues at conferences. She was involved in the design of the Canadian Bar Association’s Tax Law for Lawyers program and a faculty member since its establishment in 1995 to 2019. She served on the Joint Committee of the Canadian Bar Association and CPA Canada and the Income Tax Education Committee of CPA Canada. She is recognized in the International Tax Review’s Women in Tax Leaders guide (2016-21). She is a member of the board of governors of the Canadian Tax Foundation (2020, 2012–15) and is currently the first vice-chair. She was chair of the Conferences Committee (2013–16). She is a recipient of the Arbor Award from the University of Toronto in recognition of her voluntary service contributions.
