Cathie Brayley advises on taxation matters related to mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations, transactional liability insurance, structuring international and domestic investments, personal tax and estate planning, advice on the CRA’s Voluntary Disclosures Program, and Canada Revenue Agency audits and appeals. She is a passionate contributor to the tax community. She was Chair of the Ontario Bar Association Tax Section. She was involved in the design of the Canadian Bar Association’s Tax Law for Lawyers program and a faculty member since its establishment in 1995 to 2019. She served on the Joint Committee of the Canadian Bar Association and CPA Canada and the Income Tax Education Committee of CPA Canada. She is recognized in the Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada (2022 and 2023) and the International Tax Review’s Women in Tax Leaders guide (2016-22). She is a member of the board of governors of the Canadian Tax Foundation (2020 to present, 2012–15) and is currently the Chair. She was chair of the Conferences Committee (2013–16). She has served on the board and executive positions for charitable organizations. She is a recipient of the Arbor Award from the University of Toronto in recognition of her voluntary service contributions.
