Catherine’s diverse corporate practice focuses on complex M&A and commercial transactions, including private equity, acquisitions and divestitures, general corporate matters, reorganizations, joint ventures, strategic projects, procurement, IT, and outsourcing transactions. She represents public and private issuers on a wide variety of business combination, M&A, and private equity deals. She has extensive experience acting on cross-border and multi-jurisdictional transactions, including numerous Canadian market-entry deals on behalf of foreign companies. She acts for Canadian and international clients in a broad range of industries, including in the energy, technology, retail, healthcare, cannabis, and financial services sectors.
On February 13, 2007, Harbinger Capital Partners Master Fund I, Ltd. and Harbinger Capital Partners Special Situations Fund, L.P. through their indirect wholly owned subsidiary HCP Acquisition Inc. (together, Harbinger) acquired all of the outstanding trust units of Calpine Power Income Fund (the fund) it did not already own at a price of $13.00 per trust unit for total consideration of approximately $760 million.
