Claire Hunter, KC has a broad civil litigation, arbitration, administrative law, and appellate practice, including complex commercial matters, class actions, constitutional and administrative law, regulated marketing, professional liability, and defamation. Claire appears frequently at all levels of court in BC, the Supreme Court of Canada, and before arbitral and administrative tribunals. Claire is an author and speaker at CLE on litigation and access to justice topics. A graduate of McGill (BA), Stanford (MA), and the U of Toronto (JD), she clerked for the Honourable Mr. Justice Iacobucci at the Supreme Court of Canada. She was called to the Bar of New York in 2004 and BC in 2010, and was appointed King's Counsel in 2018 and a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2022. Claire is a Governor of the Law Foundation of BC and a Past President of the Access Pro Bono Society of BC and has received several awards for pro bono and community service. Claire was named a Lexpert Rising Star in 2017, received a Lexpert Zenith Award in 2019, and was named a Gold Winner of the Woman of the Year award in Lexpert’s Canadian Law Awards in 2020.
