Daniel Cole is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Toronto office, head of Toronto’s Intellectual Property Group and past leader of the national Advertising & Regulatory Practice Group. Daniel practises exclusively in the areas of advertising, marketing and regulatory law, with a focus on contest design & review, automotive advertising, packaging & labelling, e-commerce law and promotional copy review. He also advises clients on consumer protection law and the legal logistics of developing e-commerce platforms. A large part of Daniel’s practice involves advising on social media legal issues, including the design of targeted social media programs, drafting social media policies and managing public relations concerns. Daniel helps clients navigate a constantly evolving landscape. He regularly works with clients’ legal and executive teams to manage risk and streamline processes related to their advertising and marketing. He frequently speaks on social media and advertising law and was previously Adjunct Faculty at Osgoode Hall Law School. Daniel has been recognized in Chambers Canada, The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and The Best Lawyers in Canada and named an "Acritas Star" from 2018 to 2020. He was recognized as one of Lexpert’s Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40 in 2020.
