Dan Edmondstone is the Co-Chair of McMillan’s Advertising Group and a member of the firm’s Competition and Marketing Law Groups. Dan practises in the area of competition law, including marketing and advertising related matters. He is author of the Annotated Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (Thomson Reuters), co-author of Canadian Advertising and Marketing Law (Carswell) and co-editor of “Advertising” chapter of O’Brien’s Forms. Dan handles all aspects of marketing law, including Ad Standards advertiser dispute hearings and consumer complaints. Dan advises on advertising campaigns, competitive claims and substantiation, promotional contests and risk assessment issues arising therefrom. Dan negotiates agreements for agency and related services. He has served as Chair of the Marketing Law committee of the Canadian Bar Association’s Competition Law Section and the Consumer Law committee of the Ontario Bar Association. Dan regularly represents clients in mergers, under the Competition Act, and foreign investments in the Investment Canada Act. Dan has represented numerous defendants in class action matters; he advises on pricing and distribution issues under the Competition Act.
