Dinyar is a leading family lawyer in BC. He was called to the Bar in BC in 1982 and Nova Scotia in 1985. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2004. His practice has included all aspects of family law, including mediation, trial, and appellate work. Since 2020, Dinyar has limited his practice to acting as a family law mediator and is often retained to resolve cases involving high incomes and complex financial issues. He has always had an interest in and contributed to family law reform, legal education, and pro bono work. He was one of the original authors and editors of the Family Law Sourcebook for British Columbia, which remains the leading family law publication in the province, and has contributed many articles and presentations at family law conferences. Dinyar started the Supreme Court pro bono family mediation service, served as the former chair of the Vancouver Family Law Subsection of the Canadian Bar Association, and was appointed to the board of Legal Aid BC from 2014–2020. He is a fellow of both the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Society of Barristers. Currently, Lexpert®, Doyle's Guide, and Best Lawyers recognize Dinyar as a leading practitioner in the field of family law, with Best Lawyers naming him as its 2021 Family Law Lawyer of the Year.
