Doug is a partner and the practice lead of McCarthy Tétrault LLP's Litigation group in Calgary. His practice focuses on corporate-commercial litigation in the energy industry. He has appeared as lead counsel at all levels of court in Alberta, including in chambers, trials and appeals, and represents parties in arbitrations. Doug’s clients include public and private exploration and production companies and global companies that invest in the energy sector. His experience includes claims regarding joint ventures; facility and equipment failures; construction claims; insurance coverage claims; shareholder rights including oppression, insider trading, arrangement, and share valuation claims; and disputes arising during and after the sale of assets and corporate transactions. Doug is recognized by Chambers Canada as a Leading Lawyer in General Commercial Litigation, by Benchmark Canada as a Litigation Star in the areas of commercial, securities, arbitration, and energy litigation, by The Legal 500 in Dispute Resolution and by Lexpert as a Leading Lawyer in Corporate Commercial Litigation.
