Duncan practises corporate commercial law focused on energy and infrastructure in BC and Alberta, and nationally. A team player who gets the deal done, Duncan has deep experience in all aspects of project development, having led or participated in teams negotiating, amongst other projects: LNG facilities; offshore oil production; pipelines; liquids terminals; subsurface storage; water transportation, processing, and waste disposal systems; and gas-fuelled as well as renewables-based power generation. Duncan enjoys working with Canadian and international clients to overcome challenges and set strong contractual foundations for projects ranging from small pilot projects to multi-billion-dollar investments. He is equally experienced in acquisitions and divestitures, having participated in the purchase and sale of major energy and infrastructure assets across Canada. Duncan has particular sectoral expertise in new energy asset classes, including electrified transportation, power storage, carbon capture and storage, renewable natural gas, and hydrogen applications. In addition to his corporate commercial skills, clients benefit from Duncan's extensive knowledge of Indigenous and northern law; shipping and maritime law; and climate change, water and other environmental regulation.
