Edward “Ted” Chadderton has gone from associate to managing partner at Carrol Heyd Chown, following articles and two years of practice on Bay Street. Ted handles complex litigation files, including product liability, recreation/sports liability, facility liability, insurance disputes, and other multi-party litigation. Ted is known for being a voice of reason and strives to consider not just his clients’ legal position, but also a broader consideration of their business or personal interests. Ted is a past President of the Simcoe County Law Association. He was recently the final Vice-Chair of the Board of LibraryCo Inc., managing the County Courthouse library system. He is on the Board of Directors of the worldwide Association of Ski Defence Attorneys. He argued the Court of Appeal decision in Woodhouse v. Snow Valley Resort, obtaining a favourable ruling on the use of liability waivers for his ski resort clients and the recreation sports industry. Ted has been involved in many different facets of community life: managing the Kee to Bala in Muskoka, coaching Timbits soccer, and acting as both legal counsel and prop master for a competitive dance team. Ted spends his free time hiking, skiing, and travelling with his wife, daughters, and two schnoodles.
