Ellen is a partner in the Toronto commercial litigation group, dealing with a range of complex issues and disputes, with a particular focus on cyber security and privacy issues. Ellen regularly advises clients in a wide range of security and privacy events including ransomware attacks, cyber extortion, sophisticated phishing and social engineering fraud schemes and inadvertent security breaches by employees. She is able to assist clients with responding to every aspect of these events including immediate containment and remediation of the event, notification of affected parties and defending any subsequent regulatory proceedings or litigation which may be commenced. Ellen was called to the bar in 2006 after obtaining her Juris Doctor from the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto in 2005. Ellen began her career as an associate at another large firm prior to joining the Commercial Litigation Group in Clyde and Co’s Toronto office.
