Eric Macramalla is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office and a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. His practice focuses on trademark litigation and prosecution, as well as a variety of internet-related legal issues, including social media and domain name disputes. Through his trademark litigation and prosecution practice, Eric helps clients manage domestic and global trademark portfolios while protecting and enforcing their IP rights, both in Canada and abroad. He also counsels clients in navigating IP issues across social media platforms. Eric acts globally for clients in domain name disputes. He is also an arbitrator for domain name disputes and a co-author of Domain Name Law and Practice: An International Handbook (Oxford University Press). Eric assists clients across a broad spectrum of sports-legal matters, including representation and agency, naming rights, licensing, sponsorships, technology, litigation, and intellectual property issues. He is the legal analyst for TSN and Forbes and hosts the nationally syndicated TSN radio show Offside. Eric is regularly called upon to provide legal commentary for television, radio, and print media outlets such as TSN, ESPN, CTV, CBS, and NBC. He has been recognized in WIPR Leaders and World Trademark Review 1000.
