Fredrick Schumann

Fredrick Schumann is a Toronto litigation partner at Stockwoods LLP, focusing on high-stakes commercial disputes and investigations where regulatory, criminal, and reputational risk intersect. Fredrick's practice centres on defending executives, companies, and other entities in matters involving alleged financial misconduct, competition law exposure, fraud, and market-conduct issues. He is frequently retained in cases where the factual record is complex, expert evidence is central, and the consequences of adverse findings are existential. Fredrick has acted in major commercial arbitrations, civil fraud and asset-tracing proceedings, Competition Act investigations, and class actions involving pricing and alleged market coordination. He also advises boards and senior management on internal investigations and parallel civil, regulatory, and criminal exposure. Fredrick has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario, the Federal Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada, and he regularly teaches and speaks on trial advocacy, expert evidence, privilege, and digital evidence in litigation. Before joining Stockwoods, Fredrick clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada and trained with leading commercial chambers in London, England.
