Greg Peterson is a partner at Gowling WLG, the national co-leader of the firm's Governance, Activism & Investigations Group and former leader of the Corporate Finance, M&A and Private Equity Group in the firm’s Calgary office. His practice focuses on company matters particularly M&A, dispositions, plans of arrangements, reorganizations, going-private transactions, private placements and asset and share purchase & sale agreements. He represents private and public companies at all stages of their development, from IPOs to multi-billion-dollar market capitalizations. Greg has extensive experience in private equity transactions and public financings, including equity, debt and venture capital financings. His practice caters to both Canadian companies and international companies doing business in Canada in sectors ranging from energy to tech. He has acted as a director and/or officer of many of his clients, providing advice on corporate governance, stock exchange listings, regulatory compliance and conflict of interest situations. In 2023, Greg was appointed to the Calgary Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He has been recognized in Chambers Canada and the Legal 500 Canada and received the Best Lawyers 2026 Private Funds Law "Lawyer of the Year" award in Calgary.
