John specializes in corporate and commercial law with an emphasis on mergers & acquisitions, corporate finance, public–private infrastructure, and corporate governance, and has advised many of the firm’s largest clients on their strategic acquisitions, joint ventures, infrastructure projects, and public offerings. He has also advised a number of independent committees in connection with going-private transactions. John is President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Montréal General Hospital Corporation, a member of the Board of Directors of the Québec chapter of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD), a past member of BLG’s Partnership Board and its National Corporate Commercial Practice Group Leader, and past president of The Canadian Club of Montréal. A graduate of McGill University’s Faculty of Law and Ryerson University’s Business Management Program. Called to the Québec Bar in 1989.

CDPQ Infra Inc., a subsidiary of Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, announced on April 12, 2018, that construction of the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) project, an automated light-rail transportation system in the greater Montréal area, has officially started.
