John practises corporate/commercial and regulatory law with a focus on energy law and matters relating to the electricity sector across Canada. He specializes in the corporate/commercial and regulatory components of electricity markets and infrastructure revitalization. John advises the Ontario system operator and Alberta government on energy, procurement, and commercial law matters on a variety of province-wide initiatives; represents developers, investors, lenders in respect of corporate, commercial, and regulatory aspects of power project development; and advises utilities in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Northwest Territories and represents local distribution utilities, generators, large industrial consumers, and transmitters in Ontario on energy regulatory matters. John also has a technology law practice encompassing the breadth of corporate/commercial matters, including advising on territory-wide initiatives in Nunavut. He has particular experience drafting and negotiating agreements for hardware, software, and information technology services. John was recognized as a 2017 Lexpert Rising Star, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2008.
