John is a partner specializing in commercial and public litigation. He is a trusted advisor to leading Canadian businesses, including automotive manufacturers and international restaurant franchisors. Consistently recognized by Chambers, Lexpert, and Benchmark Litigation, John is praised for his advocacy skills and courtroom strength in high-stakes commercial and public law disputes. John’s practice focuses on contractual disputes, product liability, securities and shareholder claims, commercial real estate and leasing matters, franchise and automobile dealer claims, procurement litigation, and media and defamation. His public litigation work focuses on public inquiries, regulatory or government investigations, and defence of regulatory proceedings. He also acts in urgent fraud matters, including obtaining Mareva orders. John regularly appears before the Ontario Superior Court and Court of Appeal, as well as courts in British Columbia and Saskatchewan, and has acted in domestic and international arbitrations, including in New York and Riyadh. He also served as Commission Counsel at two public inquiries. John is active in the Ontario Bar Association and The Advocates’ Society and previously worked as a journalist in Canada and the UAE.
