A partner at Torkin Manes, Jonathan practises exclusively in construction law, on behalf of general contractors, public and private owners, sureties, subcontractors, suppliers, financial institutions, and design professionals. His work focuses on construction claims, defences and surety bond work, drafting construction contracts and other documents, employing alternative dispute resolution and advocacy at trial and appellate levels, including regularly representing clients in ODACC adjudications under the Construction Act. Jonathan’s practice also includes all aspects of construction document drafting including the preparation, review and analysis of General Contracts, Trade Contracts, Architectural and Engineering Services Contracts, Subcontracts, Supply, transportation, manufacturing, hi-rise commercial, office renovation, and sports facility contracts. He regularly drafts custom and standard form construction contracts (including all forms of CCDC, OAA, and CCA contracts and subcontracts), and advises clients on their contractual rights and obligations, contract management, risk management, and contract administration. Complementing his practice, Jonathan is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Queen’s University and teaches a sessional course on Canadian Construction Law.
